“Today we have become the greatest threat to the health of our planet.”

We’re the first generation to know what we’re doing, and the last who have a chance to put things right. ¹

A four-step plan so you can become part of the solution to the climate crisis

This first step is the key to all the rest, and it involves not blaming yourself for not being 'green' enough. It's definitely important to make lifestyle changes, but understand that tweaking your personal consumption habits will not halt the effect of global warming. Instead we need to focus on changes at a corporate level. That's where entire system changes happen.

The climate crisis is not going to be solved by personal sacrifice. We need to elect the right people, pass the right laws, draft the right regulations and adhere to those already signed. Nobody can live a zero-carbon life so we should be focusing on systems and not on ourselves; holding those who have profited from the atmosphere to account.

No single person can bring about sweeping systematic changes. Thankfully there are hundreds of groups dedicated to climate activism. It is only through working together, putting significant financial and moral pressure on governments (and their climate negotiators) that we can win the war on global warming.

The power of of belonging to a group is not simply strength in numbers. They work well because they divide up the work that needs to be done and give each task to those best suited to it. This also makes the fight less daunting. Set a sustainable level of involvement for yourself and keep it up. Educate yourself on the severity of the problem and offer your skills and resources in the area of your expertise.

We are a group of people like you, fighting for a better future.

We are a group of normal people concerned about the global climate crisis who have decided to do something about it.

Since 2017 we have been working together in our spare time to help tackle misinformation and to try and wake the public up to the urgency of climate emergency.

The time is now

We are outraged at lying genocidal fossil fuel executives and lobbyists and the power-seeking politicians in their pockets. We are optimistic about the growth of the climate change movement but the world needs wide-scale activism to bring about effective change.

We’re fired up to fight for our future, and we hope you feel the same way.

Our own 'zero impact adventure'

We seek to show that adventure and getting outdoors is important for all of us. We live in a carbon-intensive society, one which breeds stress and social pressures every way we turn. It can often feel like the pursuit of adventure and escaping a big city or modern life exacerbates the climate crisis and so we may ask ourselves would we be better off staying at home? We don’t think so.

Protect Our Winters, an environmental campaign group have explained this better than anyone else, they say:

“We embrace imperfect advocacy – we don’t believe that you should stop escaping to those outdoor places that you love because you have a carbon footprint. We also don’t believe that having a carbon footprint should ever preclude you from advocating to protect those places. Instead of chasing perfection, we’re pursuing progress by offering the outdoor community both a way to offset the carbon footprint of their adventures and ultimately learn the value of advocating for the places they love.” ²

On the 15th March 2021 the ZIA team will be embarking on a 6 week endurance expedition through the mountain ranges of East Greenland. As part of their expedition they will:

  • Summit two never before climbed mountains
  • Collect scientific data about the melting glaciers and make it publicly available
  • Produce a documentary about the climate crisis, sharing practical advice that builds on our 4 step plan on tackling the problem, as well as speaking to recognised scientists and other experts across various industries.
